Hedgehog Habitats

As part of of our Forest Schools the children made a hedghog habitat. They collected leaves, grass and twigs and made the habitat in the school grounds using a plastic box to repel the elements. The plight faced by hedghogs has been highlighted by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), as they are disappearing from our countryside at an alarming rate, as fast as tigers are worldwide. Numbers have fallen by 30 percent and in an effort to encourage hedgehogs to thrive the RHS are asking people to work together to make their gardens more inviting and habital to hedghogs.

The children also carved their own tent pegs, learning the safe use of tools including knives.
