Surgeon Operates

In Year 2 our Science Learning Challenge has been ‘How Living Things Change and Grow’

We have been shown what an animal needs for survival. We have also explored and compared the differences between things that are living, dead, and things that have never been alive. We have identified that most living things live in habitats which they like the best and how different habitats provide for the needs of different kinds of animals and plants.

We have identified and named a variety of plants and animals in their habitats, including microhabitats and described how animals obtain their food from plants and other animals, using the idea of a simple food chain. We have learned how we should use the local environment throughout the year to observe how different plants grow. We have seen what is required for the growth and survival.

I have learned that Seeds and bulbs need water to grow but most do not need light; seeds and bulbs have a store of food inside them. To end our Learning Challenge we had great fun testing our surgeon skills on a banana with Mr Halstead a real life surgeon. We learned about the human body and what is in inside us and how it works.
