Crispin and Edward in Form 6 have both passed their Grade 1 Music Theory exam!
The talented pair achieved over 90% in the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Theory exam, meaning they both received a Distinction mark.
The exam requires a mix of theoretical understanding including a comprehensive knowledge of time signatures, rhythmic values and rests together with an understanding of pitch, tonality and music analysis.
Music Theory is offered as part of the many extra-curricular clubs at school and is an invaluable addition to pupils’ instrumental lessons. Taught by our specialist Music teacher Mrs Coultas, it provides a fabulous insight into the music that the children play.
Mrs Coultas said: “Crispin and Edward have given their time so willingly to prepare for this and I am so proud of their commitment and achievement.”
Crispin and Edward were part of our 2016/17 leavers class and will be missed by all our staff and pupils. We’re wishing them all the very best in their new schools at Ermysted’s Grammar School and St Mary’s Menston!
