This week Great Explorers ventured out to Stephen H Smith’s Garden Centre in Otley! The children regularly visit the centre to collect supplies to use back in their playground’s garden, and to meet with members of the local community.
This week, the children went for a look around at all the new and wonderful Christmas decorations. They saw Christmas lights, decorations and real Christmas trees waiting to be bought. They looked so big and sparkly with their Christmassy baubles and tinsel.
The Great Explorers looked at the evergreen plants and trees and talked about the difference between evergreen and deciduous trees. They loved the different animal ornaments you could get for your garden.
After all the exploring, the children had a well deserved snack in the café. They talked about what they like about Christmas and what they were looking forward to this year as they sipped on juice and ate their gingerbread biscuits. The café also gave the children a Christmas colouring book each. Then it was back to school for Nativity rehearsals!
