We kicked off the New Year with the ISA Regional Cross Country race, hosted by Scarisbrick Hall School on the 29th January 2025.
An impressive 29 ISA schools competed from the North of England. Nine Ghyll Royd pupils proudly represented the school, showing exemplary behaviour and great team spirit.
With an average of 200 children in each race category, Lola, George, Monty, George, Alex, Hugo, Leyton, Amadeo and Zac gave it their all and had lots of fun! It was a muddy track and the children coped well in the conditions, all finishing with excellent times, approaching the finish line to a team of cheering peers.
Well done to all the runners.
Hugo in Form 4 came 1st place in the Year 3/4 Boys North race. He qualified to represent Ghyll Royd and the North of England in the ISA Cross Country Finals in Leicester on the 9th of March.
In the finals, Hugo came 8th in the country out of 70 finalists with a time of 5 minutes 59 seconds! Hugo was also the 2nd of the runners representing the North to complete the 1.5km course.
At the finals, Hugo’s team “North” were the Year 4 winners & then his Year 4 North team were also the overall North cross country winners!
A huge congratulations to Hugo!
