Our Sports Captain, William, and Deputy Head Pupil, Olivia S, have put together a sports round-up of the Spring term so far.
We’ve had an incredible start to the term with plenty of exciting sports events!
We had an amazing start with the U11 cross country at Giggleswick on the 25th of January and over 500 children from different schools raced. Well done to everyone who ran!
The day after that race, we had U11 Netball tournament at Ashville. All the Form 5 & 6 girls did amazingly and arrived back at school with big smiles.
On 30th January we had a cracking day at St Peter’s, York with the U9 netball fixture. Ghyll Royd did an amazing job, well done to everyone that took part.
We started February with an exciting showdown between the three houses in the Swimming Gala. It was a close-run contest with Nelson building on an early lead to come out victorious. The swimming and overall effort were outstanding – awesome job by all the Houses!
The following day we had the ISA U9 tag rugby festival at Scarisbrick Hall in Ormskirk where we saw some great results from the Ghyll Royd team. Fantastic effort by a great team who tried their best and brought back great results.
On the same day a team of Form 5&6 pupils took part in the Northern U11 football championships at Trafford Park. Everyone put 100% effort in and we had a fantastic time both on and off the pitch.
On 3rd February we had an astounding number of pupils showing up to the Ben Rhydding Cross Country event in the Wharfedale Leage. The results were outstanding, with lots of pupils from both KS1 and KS2 on the podium.
We’ve had a terrific start to the Spring term with all these amazing sporting opportunities. Amazing job to all those who have taken part – keep going Ghyll Royd!
