The School Council is a very active part of life at Ghyll Royd School. All children take part in voting for members of the School Council at the start of the academic year. A representative from each form sits on the School Council and is awarded a badge.

The School Council representative has three main jobs:

Collecting the views of their class and passing them on to the School Council.

Letting their class know what goes on in the School Council meetings.

Taking an active part in meetings.

The representatives will have regular meetings with their class where they will listen to the children’s concerns and issues and note them down. The representative will then put forward their class’s views at the school council meetings which are held once every half term.

 

Eco-Council

All the children take part in voting for the members of the Eco-council at the start of the academic year. A representative from each form sits on the Eco- Council and is awarded a badge.

The Eco-Council is tasked to:

Ensure that the whole school is aware of the Eco-Schools programme

Take the lead in carrying out the Environmental Review

Ensure that everyone in the school community is represented in the decision-making process

Provide a link between pupils, teachers, senior management team, governors and the whole school community

Take the lead in delivering the Eco-Schools Action Plan

The Eco Council meet every half-term and keep a record of their decisions. The minutes of their meetings are reported back to the senior leadership team and to the governors.
