We are delighted to have been shortlisted in the Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2022. This year Ghyll Royd School has been shortlisted in the Small School of the Year and Outstanding Sport categories.
Visitors to Ghyll Royd School and Pre-School instantly feel the warmth of a family home. Nestled within seven acres of meadow and fields, Greystone Manor has seen generations of families through its doors, with former pupils’ grandchildren in attendance today.
For over 134 years, Ghyll Royd has been at the forefront of local sport and, more recently, we have seen national accreditation in the School Games programme. Our success can be attributed to our core values of care, courtesy, creative and challenge.
Our children strive to be kind, help others and try their best in every opportunity given to them. Ghyll Royd children and staff alike are inspired by each other, with young athletes representing the school in swimming, golf, football and gymnastics.
We have no exclusive ‘teams’ as Mr Martin believes all children should have the opportunity to represent their school and feel proud of their participation.
Through expert coaching and regular opportunity, we see pupils grow in confidence, improving their self-esteem in other subjects and making healthier choices. Inspiration starts at home and the 120 boys and girls in the Ghyll Royd family receive the top sport provision by coaches and teachers who have reached national standards professionally.
We are delighted to have our approach to individual learning and the promotion of sport recognised in this way. Please cross your fingers as we anticipate the announcement of the finalists in September!
