The school is set in seven acres of open grounds and our outdoor area invites children to become explorers and to seek adventure. Once inside Greystone Manor the school, pre-school and nursery feel very warm and welcoming – a real home from home.
The key to our philosophy is that the pupil is at the centre of everything that the school and I do. We have grown a school where children can learn, mature and develop in different ways.
Ghyll Royd is a school that is able to accommodate the needs and personalities of individual children, and to help them flourish and feel comfortable in a very safe environment.
Ghyll Royd combines the highest standards of teaching, learning and pastoral care together with a strong emphasis on a sense of community and traditional values based around our values which are care and courtesy, cooperation and consideration, challenge and creativity.
The strong relationships that are formed between pupils, staff and parents are an essential element to Ghyll Royd’s success. Parents are encouraged to take an active part in their child’s education; fostering strong communication between home and school to ensure their child realises his or her full potential. There is a tangible sense of community at Ghyll Royd and parents have commented:
“We were overwhelmed by the family atmosphere when we first looked around Ghyll Royd, and this remains an overriding positive about the school.”
“Ghyll Royd is a warm, friendly school, one which encourages each and every child to do their very best. The pupils are to be commended on their manners, their politeness and their obvious pride in their school.”
Through our approach to learning we develop a child’s self-confidence and provide opportunities for all the children to mould themselves into skilful and well balanced individuals. At Ghyll Royd we value the children’s achievements in all aspects of school life.
Modern foreign languages, sport and creative arts as well as a wide range of other extra curricular provision are permanent fixtures on a class timetable. Pupils of all ages have ample opportunities to find and shape their individual talents through our ‘Learning Challenge’ Curriculum.
Ghyll Royd staff and I are dedicated to creating a happy and supportive learning environment and our small class sizes ensure that the contribution made by every child is recognised and valued.
Each year I take great pride in the children leaving Ghyll Royd School with a ‘Foundation for Life’ and well prepared for the secondary school of their choice.
