Inspection Reports

At Ghyll Royd School and Pre-School, we take great pride in the high standards we uphold across all areas of school life. This commitment is reflected in the outcomes of our inspections by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), the regulatory body for independent schools in the UK. The feedback we’ve received over recent years highlights not only the strength of our teaching and care but also the strong sense of community and support that exists between pupils, staff and parents.

School Inspection Reports 2025 & 2026

“Teachers support pupils to take the next steps in their learning through sensitive, helpful feedback about their work and how to improve it further. Pupils respond positively to their teachers’ guidance.”

In 2023, the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) introduced a new inspection framework. This framework no longer includes one-word classifications such as excellent, good or satisfactory. Instead, ISI inspection reports include a statement on the extent to which The Independent School Standards and other relevant standards (collectively referred to in this Framework as ‘the Standards’) are met. In September 2025 and February 2026, we welcomed a team from the ISI to the School for an inspection under the new Framework. During this process, the inspection team reviewed every aspect of life at our School.

It is a pleasure to share, that during the September 2025 inspection, our School met all the Standards across the three sections that are directly focused on the education that our pupils receive, and in February 2026, the ISI confirmed that the School had met all the further Standards.

Leaders set out the school’s aims clearly and take actions designed to create an environment in which each pupil is valued.”

School Inspection Report 2022

“The quality of pupils’ academic and other achievements is excellent. Pupils of all ages and abilities make excellent progress, producing work across the curriculum which is well above age-related expectations.”

In October 2022, the ISI inspectors praised the exceptional progress of the pupils and the dedication and hard work of the School staff.
